To serve as a pioneering academic and research platform for advancing the study of Islamic jurisprudence, fostering dialogue between classical Islamic legal thought and contemporary legal systems, and contributing to the reconstruction of Muslim society on a truly Islamic basis in accordance with the constitutional spirit of Pakistan.


Mission Statement

The Department of Fiqh and Law is committed to rigorous academic inquiry, policy-relevant research, and public engagement in matters of Islamic jurisprudence and comparative legal studies. We aim to promote a dynamic understanding of Islamic law that responds meaningfully to the legal, social, and political challenges of modern Muslim societies, particularly in Pakistan.

  • To conduct and disseminate original research on classical and contemporary issues in Islamic law and jurisprudence.

  • To explore the legal, administrative, and political dimensions of Muslim societies with a focus on constitutional and legal developments in Pakistan.

  • To revive and promote the intellectual heritage of classical Muslim jurists through translation, annotation, and critical studies.

  • To assist governmental and legislative bodies in the Islamization and reform of Pakistan’s legal system in line with Shariah principles.

  • To organize international seminars, symposia, and academic exchanges on themes of Islamic law, legal theory, and contemporary issues in jurisprudence.

  • To publish high-impact research outputs including books, academic articles, policy briefs, and monographs on Shariah and comparative law.

  • To provide scholarly opinions (fatāwā) and legal consultancy on contemporary legal questions in light of Islamic law.
