Call for Papers: International Conference on “An Inclusive and Peaceful Society in Pakistan: Challenges and Opportunities”

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES

The conference stems from a HEC sponsored research project “Towards Advancing National Narrative Counter to Violence, Extremism and Terrorism in an Islamic Perspective” led by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zia ul Haq, Principal Investigator (PI), and Mr. Muhammad Ahmad Munir, Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) of the Project. The conference seeks to establish an inclusive society in Pakistan that prevents incitement to violence and promotes respect, harmony, tolerance and peaceful coexistence. Papers presented in this conference are expected to contribute in countering terrorism and existing culture of intolerance that have been plaguing Pakistani society for the past several decades. The conference will be an effort towards reconstruction of an inclusive and heterogeneous Islamic society that promotes respect for every citizen irrespective of his creed, color, race, ethnicity, language and region..

• Constitutional and legal framework of Pakistan for prevention of hatred, extremism and violence
• Islamic ethics of disagreement and its value for contemporary Pakistani society
• Differences and diversity through justice, harmony and co-existence
• Rights of non-Muslims in shariah & law and its application in Pakistan
• The role of media in advancing peaceful and inclusive Pakistani society
